PLACES TO VISIT IN PUNAKHA EP 6: THE SUSPENSION BRIDGE
Greetings Travellers,
Have you heard of the longest suspension bridge in Punakha? it is one of the activities to do while in Punakha. My name is Kinga and in this blog, you can find brief information about the place. The Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, spans over 160 meters across the Pho(male) Chhu(water) River. This exhilarating bridge, recently reinforced for enhanced safety, connects Punakha Dzong with the nearby villages. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the river and surrounding valley, making it a favorite spot for both locals and tourists. Adorned with colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind, the bridge provides a thrilling yet serene experience, embodying Bhutan's blend of adventure and spirituality.
It is a pedestrian bridge made of steel cables and wooden planks and is suspended high above the river. Walking across the suspension bridge is an exhilarating experience, as you feel the bridge sway slightly under your feet with each step you take. As you cross, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The bridge is especially beautiful during the spring months when the valley is in full bloom with colorful flowers.
The suspension bridge is located just a short walk from the Punakha Dzong, which is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bhutan. Visitors can easily combine a visit to the Punakha Dzong with a trip to the suspension bridge.
However, please be mindful and I personally would not recommend to walk on the bridge if it is over-crowded or if there are too many people on it. The bridge is definitely sturdy but to be on the safer side and for your own personal well-being, you can take pictures from the edge of the bridge.
With us, personal well being is a top priority and we will ensure you safety and well being is looked after well apart from the unmatched hospitality that we will provide.
